In Greene County district court Anthony Marrell Banks, 45, of Ankeny was sentenced Jan. 4 to 90 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for two years. He must also do 100 hours of community service. Banks was fined $855 with a $128.50 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay restitution not to exceed $500 for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $165.63. Paul Daniel Morgan,42, of Ogden was fined $350 with a $52.50 surcharge after he pleaded guilty to a charge of public intoxication, amended from operating while intoxicated. He must complete a 48-hour OWI weekend offender program, and he must also undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended training at his own expense. A charge of possessing or carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence was dismissed. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Alex Garron Treft, 32, of Grand Junction was sentenced to 20 days in jail, with credit for time served, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The jail term is consecutive to another Greene County jail sentence. Treft was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay restitution not to exceed $750 for his court-appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Jacob Thomas Monthei, 25, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense; Christopher Craig Edwards, 42, of Carroll, assault on person in certain occupation; and Conner Laine Groves, 25, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated. A trial date was set for March 5 for Monthei, and for Jan. 30 for Edwards and Groves.
Cases were initiated in district court during the week ending Jan. 4 as follows: Alicia Marie Hawkins, 33, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine- second offense; Michael Lee Eastman, 50, of Jefferson, driving while license barred; Royce Christopher Gonnelly, 33, of Jefferson, unlawful possession of prescription drug, three counts; and Kenneth Joseph Bonnette, 36, of Scranton, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness.
